A Fall Tablescape & Soup in a Pumpkin

My best friend, sister and I have watched Hannah from Ballerina Farm make “dinner in a pumpkin” year after year in October, and were eager to try it for ourselves this fall. We made a large pumpkin’s worth of the recipe when we stayed at an Airbnb in the Catskills a couple of weeks ago, and were surprised at how much we loved it! So, we decided to make it once more in individual-sized pumpkins for a special pre-Halloween dinner!

I think it is such a fun and beautiful tradition — Peter finds it so exciting to eat his dinner out of a pumpkin! So I can definitely see us repeating this practice as a family in the years to come as a fall tradition. You can really put any kind of soup in the pumpkin shell, and I look forward to trying it again with different recipes.

We have been enjoying our outdoor table and chairs from Serena & Lily all summer long, and wanted to set up one last dinner on our back patio even though it is starting to get quite chilly! I loved how this floral Mrs. Alice tablecloth pulled in the blues from the seat cushions on our Gardener Dining Chairs while adding some autumnal hues fitting for the season. We have the Chalk Hill outdoor dining table from Serena & Lily, which we also love so much.

  1. A beautiful setting! I’ll admit I’m taking notes on how to set a perfect table…! I’m committed to having lovely holiday tables this year, and I definitely need some assistance. I’m eager to try that soup, too!
